What
is a CSA?
Community
Supported Agriculture is a relationship that brings
farmers and consumers together. By joining a CSA, people
have the opportunity to enjoy seasonal eating and a
close connection to their food source, while helping
local sustainable agriculture flourish. Consumers who
have become members of West Haven Farm CSA pay for a
portion of the farm's expenses and receive a share of
the harvest in return.
Your
Share of the Harvest
We
take great pride in offering the freshest, highest quality,
well-washed produce available anywhere. We provide only
those crops which are in season or store well. We plan
very carefully to have a steady supply of staple vegetables
as well as a variety of more unusual items, and always
strive to grow the most flavorful varieties of vegetables
available. Look at our Produce
List for more details.
Recipes
from shareholders and from us provide lots of cooking
ideas. Weekly newsletters about the farm keep shareholders
up-to-date on what's happening.
Each
week's share includes a full selection of freshly picked
farm-grown organic produce. Shareholders bag their own
weekly portions from a farm-market-type display at either
West Haven Farm or a location in Fall Creek. With advance
notice, members may switch their preferred pickup site
during the season. We are happy to specialize members'
shares to meet their families' needs.
What's
the Cost?
The
cost for a Single Share in the
CSA is $515 (sliding scale $415
to $615). We accept cash, checks
and food stamps as well. Although
we prefer that members pay in
full at the beginning of the season,
we are happy to work out individual
payment plans. We also sponsor
a few members every year through
a small scholarship fund, composed
of donations from other members.
Finally, a few reliable, hardworking
shareholders are eligible for
a large discount in exchange for
substantial help in the garden.
Please contact
us if you are interested in
one of these options.
